The Smartest One
I am a law student so I need to be smart. This is how people perceive me. Well, there are lots of things like, politics, technology in which I am so naive. In fact, often I feel like a dull- witted in the group of baboon headed people in my classroom.
It sucks more because there is actually no one who comes up and says that "its okay not to know things" and I end up saying something stupid most of the times.
But I read a quote early this morning which said, "If you are the smartest in the room, then you are in the wrong room," and this changed my whole vision upon how I looked at my friends and their talks. I was brought up in such an environment where I was taught to be the smartest and the best in the classroom. I was taught to learn from my friends but still never to let them win me in any marathons or competitions or exams. So basically, I was called the smartest if only I won in everything.
What I was failed to be taught in my school was, learning isn't all about winning. It is also about losing sometimes because of the flaws I make and not doing that flaws the next time I do something. The churn is to learn from mistakes. I believe that the person who makes mistakes the most but is still eager to learn, becomes the smartest at the end. I often used to be the "confused one" among my colleagues, but from now on I have decided to change my "naive" attitude to a "learner" attitude.
So, one doesn't always need to become the first in class to be the smartest one. One though needs to outsmart those stereotypical thinkers and open-up with questions about the unknown things. Learning more equals to improving more. And no matter how much you are bestowed by talents, there is aways room for improvement. Henceforth, I would like to call all the learners as smartest people on earth.
